RIPLEY
Winery Dog

We welcomed Ripley into our home at the end of August in 2024 as a tiny Boston Terrier pup. She quickly stepped into her predecessor, Ellie’s big paws and is now very much at home running in the vineyard and meeting guests at our Beach House tasting room.

INSPIRATION

Jeff and Brigid’s passion for wine began when they moved to the Bay area in 2001. Very quickly, their basic curiosity and recreational trips to wine country became much more. Two years later, in front of family and friends, they exchanged wedding vows at one of their favorite wineries in Alexander Valley.

Over breakfast the day after their wedding, surrounded by vineyards, they decided that “some day” they would love to have a place in wine country and maybe even own a small vineyard. For their honeymoon, the couple traveled to Australia and spent several glorious days on the island of Bedarra – a tiny exclusive island just off the Great Barrier Reef. The experience further inspired them to find their little slice of heaven in wine country.

In 2005, Bedarra Vineyards was initially born with the purchase of a home and vineyard in the southern edge of Dry Creek Valley just outside of the town of Healdsburg in Sonoma County. The initial offering included a 100% Chardonnay, a unique white blend called “Beachfront,” a red blend called “Bonfire” and a 100% Primitivo, all sourced from their estate vineyard and others in the Dry Creek appellation.

In 2013, the second chapter of Bedarra was launched with the purchase of an 8 acre hillside vineyard in the southern edge of Alexander Valley. The vineyard was completely replanted in 2014 with Cabernet Sauvignon and small blocks of Malbec and Merlot. The 2018 vintage marks the inaugural release of Cabernet Sauvignon from Bedarra Vineyards.
